the legs
Our solid oak legs have been sanded smooth, and had two coats of either natural oak or black walnut oil hand-rubbed in. One end has been rounded, to fit into the pocket on the leather seat. The other end has been beveled to sit flat on the floor. Please do not put the beveled end into the leather seat pocket, as it will damage the leather lacing. Hold the leg set with the round ends up, and gently push one round end to the right, swiveling the leg around the tri-bolt. Fan out the three rounded tops to sit the beveled edges flat on the floor. Be aware that pushing the round end to the LEFT will cause the beveled edges to put down points, which could damage your flooring.

THE SEAT TOP
The rounded ends of the legs fit securely between the triangular pockets, NOT up against the back side of the actual seat. We have put this extra layer against the leg top to prevent wearing through of the top side. With use, your seat pockets will conform to the shape of the rounded legs.
Holding the seat top above the legs, hook the far corner of the seat over one rounded end, then hook on the other two corners, taking care that the leg is securely placed.
To sit, back up over one corner of the seat, and straddle any one of the corners. Take a breath, and feel your lower spine curve, with your feet flat on the floor. This position opens your hips and provides natural core support to your torso, similar to the position a horseback rider takes - hence our description, Saddle Seats!
We have designed our seats so that the beveled feet sit flat on the floor. You may want to add extra protection, such as rubber or stick-on felt feet, if your flooring is vulnerable to marks from the wooden legs.
